Choose a weapon by encounter coverage and handling before deciding which mods should reshape it.
In this guide
The current official publisher page lists nine brine-powered weapons and 54 weapon mods. Those numbers describe the size of the arsenal, but they do not identify one universal best weapon. Choose by control, range coverage, encounter role, and synergy.
What the weapon count means
Each weapon is a platform for multiple modded behaviors. Learn the base handling before deciding whether a mod improves it: effective range, reload exposure, movement requirements, group coverage, and durable-target pressure all matter.
A weapon that performs well in a safe test may struggle while the room forces constant movement. Start with the beginner guide if positioning and reload safety are still the main limits.
Choose by role
For solo runs, cover both immediate threats and targets that punish close range. In co-op, avoid duplicating every weakness. One player may handle dense enemies while another preserves reliable boss or elite damage. The co-op guide explains how to divide those jobs.
Test before ranking
Do not publish a permanent tier judgment from one early run. Test a weapon with several mods and common Blessing or Charm triggers. Record where it remains reliable and where another weapon solves the encounter with less risk. Then use the weapon mods guide to refine the loadout.
A repeatable weapon test
Use the same checklist for every weapon so a strong first impression does not become a misleading ranking.
| Test | What to record | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Close pressure | Time and health lost while creating space | Shows whether the weapon can recover from a bad room entry |
| Mixed group | Ability to control several targets without tunnel vision | Measures normal-room reliability |
| Durable target | Safe damage uptime across movement and reloads | Separates practical pressure from training-room damage |
| Reload cycle | Distance or cover required to reload safely | Reveals the real cost of sustained fire |
| Mod change | Which weakness the selected mod actually removes | Prevents judging a base weapon and a modded weapon as the same tool |
Run the test before and after a major mod. If a mod increases theoretical output but creates more missed shots, unsafe reloads, or lost movement, it may be a downgrade for that player or team.
Solo and co-op selection rules
Solo weapons need an answer for both crowd pressure and durable targets because nobody else can cover the missing job. Co-op allows specialization, but only after the squad confirms who handles groups, who keeps reliable boss pressure, and who can create recovery space. Two players using similar weapons is not automatically wrong; duplicating the same range and reload weakness is the real risk.
The official publisher confirms nine weapons and 54 weapon mods, but does not publish a complete current stat table on the overview page. This guide therefore avoids invented damage numbers or a fake tier list. Named rankings should only be added after the current game build is tested and the test version is recorded.
